Here is just a wonderful piece of soapstone carved in the form of a house. It measures 3" x 3 1/4" x 3 1/4" tall. Probably dates to the mid 19th C. and found in MN, though surely made in NE. Don't know if it was a paperweight at the stone mason's office, a child's heavy toy or ?

.What a great looking pair of wrought iron tongs. You can see from the detail pics the fine detail work of the blacksmith. Found in CT, they measure only 9 1/2" long. I'm sure they would look great hanging from your fireplace. They date to the late 18th C.

Here is a neat little shot pouch found in CT. But what is interesting about it is the fabric, a little piece of blue and white homespun linen. It measures 5 1/2" x 3", and probably is from the Civil War era.

What a remarkable early box. This small pine box has the image of a king on the top, with other carved and attached decoration. It measures 6" x 2 3/4" x 3 1/4". You can see the tiny wire hinges, some missing decoration, and nice dark grungy old surface. This could be early 18th or late 17th C.

Here is a nice early soapstone inkwell. I love soapstone items. This one was found in CT, has a hole in the middle for the ink jar, and dates to the early 19th C. It measures 3" x 1 3/4".

What a darling little linsey covered book. The book itself is a small antique leather prayer book, just a tiny thing. We covered it with a scrappy bit of worn antique linsey in blue.

Here is a really evocative deck of old cards. The figures are wearing old military uniforms and crowns, and the back has the time for all over the world.

These long antique wrought iron skewers are hard to find! You always need more to hold that chicken on the spit, one won't do, or to fill out your set hanging on your fireplace. Each one is hand wrought, good old dry surface, and late 18th C. The longer one is 9 1/4", the shorter one is 7 1/2"

I love the beautiful profile on this old soapstone cauldron, it just looks so ancient. People actually cooked in these. This one has great old dark patina. It measures 8" x5", dates to the mid 19th C. and is surely NE.

Here is the edge detail of the slate piece seen above. I don't know what it was used for, top of a crock? Cutting board? Who knows, but it is cool, and it is old. It measures 9" diameter x 1" thick.

Here is a group of nice old pewter. The measure is tall, is probably German. The beaker is about 4" tall, and has nice lathe marks. The mug has a neat mark, and is probably English.

These early leather key baskets were supposedly used on southern plantations to carry the housewife's keys for her valuable household supplies. It is thick soft leather held together with brass studs, and a wood bottom with great wear. It measures 9" long x 8" tall with handle, and dates to the mid 19th C.
